Andrew Douglas has been credited with substantially contributing to a series of design improvements introduced during the concept development phase of the South East Busway. He demonstrated how bus travel times could be improved, whilst reducing costs and enhancing capacity.



Andrew also conceived and was closely involved in all phases of the development of the Coronation Drive Tidal Flow Bus Lane Project. While this has recently been dismantled to make way for the Hale Street Bridge Project, it is considered to represent the most intelligent and successful application of Tidal Flow Technology.



​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​Further, Andrew articulated the potential for a "green bridge" linking the University of Queensland to Dutton Park, and was subsequently heavily involved in its concept planning and specification. His involvement extended to the Intelligent Transport Systems specification and requirements to permit future running of autonomous vehicles.



Andrew also co-developed the Brizbus Concept in response to the Brisbane Development Association (BDA) call for an alternative to the abandoned Brisbane Light Rail Project. The concept was well received by the then Transport Minister, The Honourable Stephen Bredhauer MP, and Brisbane City Council's Transport and Traffic Chair, Cr Maureen Hayes. Elements of the Brizbus concept were implemented in Brisbane Transport's free City Loop bus service.
